Protect our Range

The Helena and Aurora Range (Bungalbin) is a spectacular banded-ironstone formation located just six hours north-east of Perth. It is a biodiversity hotspot - home to more than 110 bird species - and sacred Aboriginal Land.

The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has described the Range as “one of the more significant biodiversity assets in WA”, and has rejected a proposal to allow two open-cut iron-ore mines for the second time.

In the coming weeks, WA Environment Minister Stephen Dawson is expected to make a decision on the future of the Helena and Aurora Range.

This is our last chance to remind Minister Dawson that Australians want the spectacular Helena and Aurora Range to be protected for generations to come, not turned into a desolate wasteland.

We are calling on Minister Dawson to say no to mining in one of Australia's most important places and to secure the protection of the Range by declaring it a National Park.
