Over the past 30 years, the Endangered Southern Black-throated Finch has seen its range contract by over 80% and is now listed as Extinct in New South Wales. The largest remaining stronghold for the species is in the Galilee Basin where numerous coal mines are proposed, including Adani’s controversial Carmichael coal mine.

Earlier this year the Queensland Government announced an independent expert review of Adani’s Black-throated Finch Management Plan to be completed by an independent panel. Following this review, the Queensland Government rejected the plan and and told Adani to come back with a better one.

But in the wake of the Federal election, the Queensland Government is being pressured to rush an approval of Adani’s Black-throated Finch Management Plan by this Friday.

If the management plan is approved the controversial coal mine will be one step closer to reality - pushing the Endangered Southern Black-throated Finch to the edge of extinction.  

Join us in calling on the Queensland Premier to follow science and not rush through the Black-throated Finch Management Plan.
