But this beautiful area is under threat.

Walker Corporation, Australia’s largest private developer, has proposed a 3,600-unit private luxury complex that will destroy this amazing place, including irreplaceable endangered bird habitat, and have serious impacts on the livability of the Redlands Coast.

87% of the local community does not support this destructive development.

Dear Minister,

I am writing to urge you to exercise your Ministerial powers and reject Walker Corporation’s proposal (EPBC 2018/8225) at Toondah Harbour, Queensland.

Minister, I care deeply about Australian nature and birdlife and fear about its future. Too much of nature has already been destroyed by similar projects and now far too many birds are threatened with extinction, including the Critically Endangered Eastern Curlew which call Toondah Harbour home.

Science and your own Department have made it clear that Walker Corp’s plan will destroy internationally important wetlands and habitat for Eastern Curlew and other threatened species.

The Australian public does not support this project. More than 27,000 public comments opposing the proposal have been submitted throughout the EPBC assessment process (including over 25,000 to the draft EIS alone) and more than 80,000 petition signatures have been received opposing it.

Minister, please uphold our international commitments to protect the most important wetlands and your own commitments to halting extinctions and recovering threatened species habitat.
